It was a dark and stormy night...

Yeah... that's a Comcast truck.



They guy was there for hours. I went out and took pictures of the tag just in case this became another nightmare. I think they were hooking some new neighbors up. Comcast seems to do anything to get you connected... until you actually become a customer. Then you're on your own.

FIZZIES!

I wasn't around at the time to try FIZZIES... but I would have if I could have.



Evidently they're out again now with a new formula but I haven't seen them anywhere. I'll keep an eye out. If you see them somewhere in the Atlanta area let me know.

Day of the Robots!

I came home today after doing some shopping and found robots on the front steps blocking the entry of my home.



Well.... really it was a box containing The Drink Bot.



The Drink Bot decanter was made by Tiki Farm for Tiki Bar TV. Drink Bot is perfect for storing Love In The South Pacific or whatever else you'd like to put in there. Remove the lampshade first though.

Meet The Cap'n & Java

I've been a bit slack keeping up with the tikis lately. It's nice outside today so I figured I'd start catching up a bit.


These were two of my Christmas presents. You'll find the awesomely hot glaze of the Hot Lava Java Coffee Mug on the left and Captain Hold Fast at the helm on the right (note his genuine gold tooth.) The Captain was designed by Atomic Tony Tiki. Both can be found at Tiki Farm.

Enchanted Tiki Room

Back in December I made a pilgrimage of sorts... back to the Enchanted Tiki Room at Walt Disney World. They've redone the show and updated it with some more modern-era birds from more recent Disney flicks but it was still well done. Lots of fun for all!



No that's not my scooter... man were those things annoying though. I may get one next time I go back.

Unfortunately a lot of the show is in the dark so it's hard to take it all in... let alone take photos.




And what better way to energize after the show with some iced coffee from the local tiki hut concession stand.

One day I plan to make it out to the original Enchanted Tiki Room in Anaheim. One day...

Today I made the Rubber Band Racer (with optional ratchet.)

Temps in Buffalo Grove

Curtis meant to bring along a little temperature data recorder with him on our trip to Buffalo Grove this week. I thought it would have been interesting to see but he forgot... so I dug some data up from Weather Underground.



We arrived late Monday night (around midnight) to enjoy the peak temperatures of the week. Never mind that it was snowing and we really had no idea where we were going except for some directions that we couldn't exactly follow 100% because of construction and detours.

Tuesday night we were brave enough to scrape off the car and venture out for dinner. Wednesday night it was getting colder still so we chickened out and ate at the hotel.

Thursday morning (see the lowest dip in the little red line above) we went out in the -4 degree temps to load up and scrape off the car again. We were out there for maybe 2-3 minutes but it felt like 20. Just walking forward with any exposed skin at -4 creates enough wind chill to make you feel numb.

101 Cookbooks: exploring cookbooks, one recipe at a time

Just wanted to share a nice blog/journal I came across this weekend:




101 Cookbooks is very nicely composed, sampling from all sorts of things and steering toward healthy foods. Many of the recipes appear basic and easily achievable (cooking doesn't have to be "hard".)

The photographs are top-notch and make me hungry.

(looks like the herbivores should be pretty happy with it as well)
